Find out how this simple, quick procedure could smooth away fine lines and wrinkles.Botox

Just because you are getting older doesn’t mean you should have to look older. Here at Arrowhead Dermatology, our in Peoria, Avondale and Phoenix, AZ, dermatologists pride themselves on being able to help take years off your appearance and look as good as you feel. You don’t have to undergo serious or drastic cosmetic treatments to get the results you want, either. Find out how Botox could help you.

Q. What is Botox?

A. Botox is a special type of cosmetic dermatology treatment that uses a series of thin needles containing a purified form of botulinum toxin to temporarily prevent certain muscle groups from contracting. By relaxing these muscles we can also reduce the appearance of certain facial lines and wrinkles.

Q. What dermatological issues can Botox address?

A. If you hate the lines and wrinkles that have appeared across your face as a result of squinting, laughing or frowning then these wrinkles can be treated with Botox. Botox tackles dynamic wrinkles such as crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles and laugh lines.

Q. What should I expect from the Botox procedure?

A. One of the major advantages to getting Botox is that it’s fast and easy. This minimally invasive procedure will have our Peoria, IL, skin doctor administering these thin needles into certain muscles of the face, based on what lines and wrinkles you want to treat. It only takes a couple minutes to administer the needles and you can go right back to your daily routine right after. There is no downtime with Botox treatment.

Q. Will it hurt?

A. Most people hear the word “needle” and become a bit squeamish. Don’t worry! First, these needles are extremely thin. Most people only notice a slight pinch when the needles enter the skin, but the discomfort is minimal and fleeting. Of course, if you are still concerned about getting Botox, talk to us about applying a topical numbing cream over the skin prior to getting Botox.

Q. When will my results show up? How long do results last?

A. Most people are surprised to hear that Botox results won’t show up right away, so don’t feel frustrated if you don’t walk out of the office with the results you were hoping for. It can take about three to four days before you start to notice the effects of this treatment, with full results appearing after one week. Of course, Botox results are only temporary, typically lasting between three and four months. But this doesn’t mean that you can’t get maintenance treatments to refresh your look.

Don’t let lines and wrinkles tell the story of your life. Let the dermatological experts at Arrowhead Dermatology in Peoria, Avondale and Phoenix, AZ, help you get the cosmetic skin treatment you need to feel great about the way you look.

What your dermatologists in Peoria, Avondale and Phoenix want you to knowdermatology

You might have heard about microneedling and now you want to know if it will work for you. The truth is microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, has been used for over 25 years to diminish the early signs of aging and to renew and rejuvenate your skin. Your dermatologists at Arrowhead Dermatology want to share the facts about microneedling collagen induction therapy. They have three convenient office locations in Peoria, Avondale and Phoenix, AZ, to serve you.

Microneedling treatment begins with your dermatologist using a numbing cream on the area to be treated. Then a tool containing tiny micro needles is used on the treatment area. The needles cause micro damage to the surface and deeper layers of your skin. Your body produces more collagen to heal the micro damage. After treatment you may notice your skin is slightly pink or red; this is perfectly normal. After healing, your skin will be firmer and more rejuvenated.

Microneedling is an excellent treatment to even out skin tone and makes your skin look younger. It helps with:

  • Scarring from acne and other skin conditions
  • Wrinkles, fine lines and other early signs of aging
  • Discolorations, hyperpigmentation, and freckles
  • Sun spots and other signs of sun damage
  • Large pores and other unsightly skin issues
  • Stretch marks on your legs and other areas

Microneedling is often combined with the application of therapeutic or aesthetic serums and other skin products to diminish the signs of aging or skin conditions. Vitamin serums and other products are applied first and then followed by microneedling treatment which helps the products penetrate into the skin. Between four and six treatments are needed to get the best results.

You deserve to look your best and microneedling can help. If you suffer from unsightly skin issues, it’s time to discover what microneedling can do for you. For more information about microneedling and other dermatologic and cosmetic treatments call your dermatologists at Arrowhead Dermatology with three convenient office locations in Peoria, Avondale and Phoenix, AZ. Are you ready to get a more youthful skin?ip photorejuvenation

As you get older you may find that skin isn’t as fresh and young looking as it once was. While everyone goes through changes, some people experience more extensive and unpleasant changes as they age. Perhaps you are noticing more broken blood vessels across your face or you have more sunspots than you would like to admit. If so, our Avondale, Phoenix and Peoria, AZ, dermatologists have a treatment you’ve been looking for to reinvigorate your skin.

What is photorejuvenation?

Also referred to as IPL (intense pulsed light) treatment, this laser goes over the surface of the skin to treat a variety of issues including:

  • Sunspots
  • Age spots
  • Other pigmentations (e.g. freckles)
  • Redness (often caused by rosacea)
  • Visible blood vessels
  • Uneven skin texture/tone
  • Enlarged pores

What does the treatment entail?

When you get IPL therapy from on of our Avondale, Phoenix and Peoria skin doctors, the laser is directed over the areas of the skin that need to be treated. As the blood vessels, freckles and other spots absorb the heat from the laser, they start to break down the pigmentation and walls of the blood vessels. It can take anywhere from a half an hour to 90 minutes to complete your treatment.

Is this laser treatment painful?

While not painful, you may notice a zapping feeling, particularly during your first appointment; however, the majority of our patients easily tolerate this. You will also start to notice less discomfort the more treatments you undergo.

How many sessions will I have to undergo?

A lot will depend on the issues you want to address and how severe they are. During your consultation, we will determine how many sessions you will need to undergo. On average, about three to five photorejuvenation treatments are customary over the course of a few months.

Is there a recovery period?

There is no downtime associated with this treatment. Any recovery period is self-limiting depending on the redness or crusting you experience after your procedure. It is normal for age spots and other pigments to become darker for a few days before crusting over. The skin may also be a touch red for a few days after treatment.

Arrowhead Dermatology has offices in Phoenix, Peoria and Avondale, AZ, to better serve you. Of course, if you are interested in getting photorejuvenation then you’ll want to turn to our office for more details. Call us today at (623) 487-3003.

Whether you want to feel confident sporting a hairless back or you just want to clean up that bikini line before the summer our laser hair removal system can reduce and even eliminate dark unwanted hairs in a few sessions.

Skin resurfacing

If you want to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, blemishes and acne scars then laser skin resurfacing may be the treatment for you. Through concentrated light beams, we are able to remove the outermost layers of the skin. In most cases, the area will be numbed prior to treatment so you won’t experience any discomfort.

Laser therapy breaks down certain tissues in the skin and destroys these tissues to reduce and even eliminate scarring and hyperpigmentation to achieve a more even skin tone.

Vascular lesions

There are many different kinds of laser therapies that can target, heat up and destroy the blood vessels while leaving healthy surrounding skin untouched.

Tattoo removal
